I started my shop when my oldest daughter was a little over one year old. Before she was born, I had searched high and low for nursery decor with a vintage feel with not much luck. So I decided to start making stuff myself! I realized that all the project ideas swimming around in my head were reminiscent of things I had in my childhood. Eventually, I started finding vintage items at flea markets & estate sales to supplement my inventory.

All the items I have or make have a "creepy cute" feel to them. I have always liked creepy things. My shop is named for the song "Girl Land" from the Free to Be You and Me album. At the time, I didn't understand the lyrics (which are about the evolution of women's rights). I just loved the carnival music and the ominous Jack Cassidy creeping me out. Between that and a 3-D postcard I had of a weird little blonde doll standing next to a pink house, Girl Land was born. And the niche for creepy cute tchotckes was filled! Enjoy!
